Three ways to improve your technology company’s online apps

  • According to Statista, the number of apps currently available from the leading app stores (Google Play, Apple, Windows, Amazon and Blackberry) is over 6,500,000.
  • The Apple App Store alone grew from 800 apps the month it was launched in 2008 to 2 million in January 2017.

With this many apps available to consumers, your high-tech company has a lot of competition. Here are three ways to increase the odds that your apps are found and used:

Optimize Your Apps

People search app stores in much the same way that they “Google” information on their laptops. They enter search terms that interest them. When they search the web, Search Engine Optimized sites are more likely to surface. When they search the app store, App Store Optimized titles and descriptions are more likely to surface. That’s why high-tech marketers will want to pay attention to how they post their apps’ titles, descriptions and icons. Icons are the first thing users will see, so they should be designed in a way that lets people know what your app is about.

Ask for Traffic and Reviews
Some users may find your app through search, but why wait? When you post information about your app to your website as well as in other marketing efforts, you can be sure you’ve done everything you can to drive more downloads.

Another key driver is a high ranking in each app store’s search results or top charts. Again, you don’t have to wait for users to rank your app. Go ahead and ask users for reviews and include in-app tools that make it easy to leave feedback.

Consider Localization
Across the globe, the majority of time spent online is spent on a mobile device. If your high-tech company has a multi-cultural or global customer base, translating your app into other languages can increase downloads and help you reach a broader audience.

A study, “The Impact of App Translations”  showed that localizing iPhone app text resulted in 128% more downloads per country. And companies saw a 26% increase in revenue for each country added via app localization.
